Since I saw Taxi Driver (Martin Scorsese, 1976) I fell in love with the soundtrack of my beloved Bernard Herrmann, especially obsessed with this jazz/funk tune and the tasty sax solo. I wanted to give it a try and get out of my comfort zone by playing this jazzy syncopated linear drum beat in 6/8 with traditional grip. So I transcribed and studied the whole song and every accent, ghost note and variation, being silly enough to emulate an improvisation…and, finally, after a zillion hours locked in my rehearsal room practicing, I’m happy to show the result.
